It’s been a busy month for us at News360 – we’ve released a whole bunch of updates for existing platforms, and a whole new app for Android Tablets, redesigned our site, and finally acquired the news360.com domain.
The Android version has been in development for a couple of months, and we think it’s a great addition to our product line-up – we’ve spent a long time making sure the design of the app is in the general spirit of the Holographic honeycomb UI, and the app is super-stable and fast. Of course, due to android having a lot of different devices with slightly different behavior (and Android giving us a lot more chances to shoot ourselves in the foor that iOS), there were still a couple of hiccups, but we were able to resolve them quickly.
Appolicious published a great interview with us that gives a little more detail into our development and product design that is worth a read: http://www.androidapps.com/tech/articles/8130-the-making-of-the-just-launched-news360-android-tablet-app
One thing about the Android launch that was very different, when compared to our other platforms, is the amount of feedback we got from users after the launch – I think Android people sent more emails and tweets to us in a week than iPad users in two months. It included both praise and (valid) criticism, but overall the feedback was very positive.
Our development is going at it’s usual breakneck pace, so here’s what you can look forward to in the next few months:
- News360 on Android Smartphones
- News360 on the Web (it’s going to be amazing)
- News360 on WebOS
- HUUUUGE update to the iPad, iPhone and Honeycomb versions
